Home of the largest seal colony in the United Kingdom, Blakeney Nature Reserve is seeing a high possibility of breaking an exciting record this next season with the announcement of over 4,000 grey seal pups being born.
According to BBC, the colony has been flourishing in great numbers due to the lack of natural predators in their selective habitat. You can view a picture of a grey seal pup at the reserve below.
The reserve also reported that in 2019, around 3,300 pups were born, seeing a large increase over just one year. They are hoping this increase in numbers adds to the amount of possible research going toward this group of mammals.
