Untouched By Human Hands starts off with a burst of energy with the first track “Snake,” filled with eclectic riffs, and supercharged vocals. Do NOT underestimate this 3-piece group, each member brings an array of styles. From Joel Monet’s gut wrenching growls, with diverse vocal melodies similar to Phil Druyor (I Am Abomination/The Bad Chapter) to Christian Colabelli’s electrifying + sporadic riffs, and finally Matt Guglielmo’s earth-shattering, and power driven drumming. With that being said, I’ve seen many compare Circuitry to Periphery, but I’d say these guys definitely have a different formula encumbered by sheer ingenuity.
Untouched By Human Hands is a staple for progressive metalcore which unleashes a wrath of monster riffs, catchy choruses, and an intoxicating aura of unshakable creativity.
I discovered Circuitry by their second track/single teased back in August: “Waving A White Flag” which immediately won me over as one of my favorite singles from 2018. Period. The 2-month wait between the single and release felt like an eternity, but was luckily sated by the discovery of their previous “Self-Titled” album. However, as solid as the self-titled was, Untouched By Human Hands is definitely a step up for Monet’s vocals. (Evident in songs like Moment of Clarity, Synchronicity.) Their overall tone and groove are much cleaner, vibrant and exponentially superior.
The ending track “Kept In A Shallow Grave.” is the epitome of a true art-form. From start to finish, the progressions in the guitar-work, slow harmonic vocals that transcend to explosive screams/growls solidify this track as my absolute favorite. This 11-track record running at 43 minutes and 33 seconds will definitely give you a euphoric ride through arguably one of the best releases in the genre this year.
I want to congratulate them for an amazing release, and I’m looking forward to seeing Circuitry thrive, and evolve as an entity that will dominate this music scene!
