Recently I got to sit down and chat with Catco. It was an amazing opportunity as a longtime fan, to be able to find out interesting fun facts, and learn some of the inspiration behind the songs from their EP. Channeling themes of intense emotion, intricate instrumental composition, and influences from their love of J-Rock, Pop, Jazz and Post/Hardcore. Inspired by artists such as Sianvar, Taking Back Sunday and Closure In Moscow, Cat Company have created a fresh invigorating sound that is sorely missing from the post/core scene. Their self titled EP is a tour de force to say the least covering a wonderfully vast sonic landscape. There are songs like Kusanagi, that makes you just wanna push your friends around in a fun frenzy, to songs like the emotionally charged Firestarter that make you wanna sway to the smooth polished vocals of Jay Christian. If you haven’t heard of Cat Company be prepared to blown away.
